Video File Size Calculator
Estimate how much storage a video will need using its duration, video bitrate, audio bitrate, and an allowance for file overhead.
Video settings
Enter the duration and estimated bitrates.
Estimated file size
Approximate storage required for the video.
Size breakdown

Total estimated size
Storage equivalents
Megabytes (MB)
Gigabytes (GB)
Terabytes (TB)
This is an estimate based on average bitrates. Variable bitrate encoding, extra audio tracks, subtitles, metadata, and container details can change the final file size.
How video file size is calculated
Video data = Video bitrate × Duration
Audio data = Audio bitrate × Duration
File size in bytes = Total bits ÷ 8
Estimated size = Raw size × (1 + overhead percentage)
The calculator uses decimal storage units: 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes and 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes. Actual encoded files may differ.
